A Fine “Cup of Tea”…

Seattle weather was great, the was crowd enthused, and our own “Liberty Belle” rocked. Local media evidently couldn’t have cared less ~ but what else is new in the oh-so-liberal Emerald City? Here’s the “grassroots” coverage:

  • Photos and comments from “My Own Side
  • Super photo gallery from Creative Flashes
  • More Great Photos
  • And a few words from Fox’s Neil Cavuto on the national Tea Party movement:

    Update: Seattle Tea Party

wrapperUpdate Thursday: There is an excellent piece,“Stirring Up the Grassroots” by Sen. Jim DeMint on the Human Events site today. One passage in particular seems to speak directly to us as we look forward to tomorrow’s event:

“But there was a silver lining in the stimulus fight: Americans have now awakened to the real and urgent battle between socialism and freedom.”

Here’s an excerpt of the most appropriate portion of his essay that you can print and copy if you’d like to share it with onlookers, co-workers, friends & family during and/or after our party.

We will have these wrappers at the rally, but if you’d like to print some and wrap your teabags in advance, here is a jpeg image.

Here are some other “Tools for the Revolution”, brought to you by one of the national sponsors. (You’ll find lots of good information on their site, so don’t miss it.)

The Seattle Tea Party is On!

    From Liberty Belle:

“This event is open to everyone, regardless of political party affiliation. Politicians of both major parties seem to have forgotten that they work for us, and that their duty is to use our tax dollars honestly and efficiently. Do not let a label keep you from demanding integrity from our elected officials.”

  • WHAT TO BRING: We are having a real tea party during lunch, so bring your lunch, a seat, a blanket; bring a cup of tea (or coffee, sshhh we won’t tell), a hat, an umbrella, your sense of fun and patriotism. Most importantly, bring a box of tea bags. We will provide you with Little Liberty Tea Wrappers printed with messages to President Obama that you can sign. We will then collect all of the tea bags and send them on to Washington D.C. Also, if you can bring a pen and maybe a stapler…that would help.

This event is not only a time to show our dissent, but also a time to socialize and network with other like-minded individuals. It is meant to be a fun lunch hour on a (hopefully sunny) Friday afternoon. We will voice our opinions and tell our President and his administration, using our First Amendment rights, that REVOLUTION IS BREWING.

This event is open to everyone, regardless of political party affiliation. Politicians of both major parties seem to have forgotten that they work for us, and that their duty is to use our tax dollars honestly and efficiently. Do not let a label keep you from demanding integrity from our elected officials.

In a city famous for coffee, Seattle Sons & Daughters of Liberty are planning a TEA PARTY!

The national movement is gaining momentum and gathering steam according to organizers TCOT (Top Conservatives on Twitter), SGP (Smart Girl Politics), and Don’tGo:

“Online conservative activists have rallied to CNBC’s Rick Santelli’s call earlier this week, backed by mortgage traders, for a ‘Nationwide Chicago Tea Party’ to protest the Obama Administration’s bailout plan.”

You can bet the great Northwest is not about to be left behind.

Portland’s tea party is already planned. According to host,Geoffrey Ludt:

This event is non-partisan. Progressives are angered by Washington’s continued pandering to corporate ‘fat-cats’ and conservatives are angered by Washington’s willingness to prop-up failed enterprise. We have a common purpose — Washington is NOT listening!

Washington is encouraging BAD behavior. We are already paying to prop-up zombie banks and, this new “Home Affordability Plan” allows bankruptcy judges to revisit the terms of a loan? CNBC’s Rick Santelli has it right, In America, a card laid is a card played and contracts must be sacred. Do we really want to teach our children, (whom this plan will inundate with debt) that there are “do over’s” in the real world if the mistake is big enough?”

Liberty Belle promises that Seattle is not far behind. Details to follow as soon as they’re available.

We’re Not So “BLUE” After All!

Who’d a thunk it? It started right here in the deep blue territory surrounding Puget Sound. On President’s Day, our own “Liberty Belle” sounded the clarion call to action and — on very short notice — rounded up approximately a hundred folks to take to Seattle streets to protest the passing of the “Porkulus Bill”.

Of course most of our local media - with the exception of KIRO — didn’t bother to cover it. And in one of the most liberal cities in the country, it’s all too easy for conservatives to get discouraged, but TAKE HEART, we’re just getting started. Stay tuned.
